There are a number of beaches along the southwestern coast of Maui where turtles are plentiful, and the most famous is the site known as Turtle Town. The bay can be reached by land, but most snorkelers arrive aboard charter boats. Maui’s Honolua Bay offers plenty of sea turtles plus the chance to encounter spinner dolphin. Another site in the area worth checking out is the Mala Wharf, where turtles glide through the remains of a ship’s pier that was destroyed by Hurricane Iniki in 1992. For land-based snorkelers, the prime site near Lahaina is the headland known as Black Rock, which is located on the north end of Kaanapali Beach. From the Lahaina area, Honolua Bay is a favorite stop for snorkel charters, where in addition to the ubiquitous turtles, there’s a good chance of sighting octopus, parrotfish and even the occasionally spinner dolphin. ![]() There are nearly 2,800 in the growing Chinatown West I wrote about earlier this year in University City, but that community of largely well-to-do boba-slurping international students is distinct from the working-class families that have gravitated to the affordable real estate of Northeast Philly. Census data, 7,800 Chinese immigrants now live in Northeast Philly, compared with the nearly 1,200 in Center City's landlocked Chinatown. The new version of China Gourmet represents a "Flushing moment" for Northeast Philly, which, despite being home to the city's largest population of native-born Chinese, had previously only hosted a modest strip of small Cantonese eateries on Bustleton Avenue, where Fung first wowed me just more than a year ago with a plate of wok-crisped lobster and crab layered high into a crustacean tower scattered with savory Hong Kong crumbles of gingery pork. >READ MORE: A taste of the Northeast: Immigrants add amazing flavor Garden in Flushing, however, that made me first aware of how New York's Chinese community had found in Queens a more spacious crossroads to grow such critical mass. It was his Gourmet magazine review many years ago of the now-closed K.B. Gold was keenly aware of how Los Angeles' sprawling landscape allowed its communities to thrive in an insular way that is unlike most East Coast cities, where the compressed real estate fosters inevitable cross-cultural pollination. His reviews simultaneously celebrated those worlds and invited outsiders in: "He gave us the keys to a hidden city," Ruth Reichl, his friend and former editor, wrote in her moving tribute to Gold. It avoided touristic ogling and "bizarre food" trophy hunting in favor of a genuine love for traditional cooking informed by empathy, deep knowledge, and an appreciation for these cuisines in the context of their communities, which are, in turn, woven into the multiculti patchwork of a larger American metropolis. This was especially true of his approach to immigrant restaurants. But it's no exaggeration to say that Gold, the Pulitzer Prize-winner who wrote for the Los Angeles Times, LA Weekly and many others, has been an inspiration my entire career. This review was well in the works before the death July 21 of America's greatest restaurant critic. But you could say that Jonathan Gold sent me. ![]() As busy as it is, China Gourmet is still no easy find, tucked as it is into an obscure strip mall beside the Roosevelt Boulevard, a block south and out of view from busy Cottman Avenue. ![]() ![]() ![]() However, if you don't touch the movement controls and move your camera instead, the attacks go to where your camera is currently aimed at. when you're actively moving Geralt with movement controls, all his attacks go to the direction he's currently facing and not to the direction of the camera. ![]() REVIEW:ANTHONY BOURDAIN IN VIETNAM : 8 EPISODES I’ve also written a personal reflection on Bourdain. That’s what I’ve done on this page: a compilation in chronological order of all eight episodes of Bourdain’s shows filmed in Vietnam, from 2002 to 2016, covering north, south and central Vietnam, and produced over three separate TV shows: A Cook’s Tour, No Reservations, and Parts Unknown. Therefore, it seems to me that pulling together all of Anthony Bourdain’s Vietnam episodes from his entire TV career is the best we can do. Indeed, I always hoped Bourdain would some day devote an entire series to Vietnam: six full-length episodes during which he could really dive deep into the food, culture, history and landscape of the country he loved. Following Bourdain’s death, there have been many retrospectives of his life and work, but I’ve never seen, read or heard any that are dedicated solely to his coverage of Vietnam, a country for which he felt a special attachment. Mountain is a useful tool that can prove invaluable to users who typically manage multiple remote storage servers. At the time I’m writing this, it’s almost three years since Anthony Bourdain took his own life at Le Chambard Hotel Restaurant Alsace in Kaysersberg-Vignoble, France, on June 8, 2018.The app displays a detailed history of all past connections and allows you to enable or disable Bonjour notifications.Your bookmarks can be created and accessed from the menu bar icon in Mountain Duck.An unobtrusive menu bar app that's always near you when you need it.Configuring each bookmark is not difficult at all, provided you know the server address, username, and password required. It supports FTP, SFTP, WebDav, Amazon S3, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, and OpenStack Swift. ![]() You can add as many servers or cloud storage accounts as you want. ![]()
